Your Personal Trainer For School
How I Work
All students run into bumps in the road at some point during their time in school. Sometimes these are just minor speed bumps and sometimes they are craggy and intimidating. My superpower is to identify the nature of the bumps and help students, families, and teachers navigate them. Through informal assessment, review of evaluations, and ongoing conversations with families and teachers, my goal as a coach is to empower young people to identify the strategies and resources they need to take ownership of their learning experience.
While my students’ challenges range from difficulties with executive functions to attentional and learning disorders, I work closely with each student to develop personalized support plans based on their unique needs including:
-
Core Academic Content
-
Executive Functions
-
Organization & Time Management
-
Study Strategies & Techniques

The Process
First, we will build self-awareness to identify and articulate strengths and areas for growth. Then, we practice self-advocacy skills through modeling, role-playing, and practice. The end goal is self-efficacy. This is a clunky term, but an important one in our work together. According to psychologist Albert Bandura, self-efficacy is "a person's belief in their ability to succeed in a particular situation." We will know success when you are confident about your ability and recognize the path to achieving your goals.

“The future is not some place we are going to but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found but made, and the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.”
